Partnering with Catholic Charities of Acadiana
At Broussard, David & Moroux, the nonprofit organization, Catholic Charities of Acadiana, holds a special place in our hearts. For many years, we have supported their mission to serve our neighbors in need throughout Acadiana. Our relationship with Catholic Charities goes back decades, and it continues to shape who we are as a firm and as members of this community.
One of our most meaningful milestones came in 2021 when we committed $300,000 to help expand the St. Joseph Diner and Food Bank. Watching these plans come to life marked a turning point for our firm. It reminded us that the success we experience in our practice directly impacts those facing poverty in our community. We were proud to invest in the infrastructure needed to ensure these essential services would be available for many years to come. In fact, we were the very first local business to volunteer at the diner. Supporting the Diner is more than an act of charity. It is an investment in the long-term stability and resilience of Acadiana.
This season, our firm partnered with Catholic Charities to launch the Upholding Dignity for the Most Vulnerable Drive. The goal of this initiative was simple and important. We wanted to provide essential items to members of our community who are experiencing homelessness. Through this drive, we donated critical clothing and hygiene items to help meet their needs and to reinforce the dignity every person deserves.
In addition to our own participation, we encouraged others in the legal community to get involved. Collectively, our firms and colleagues came together to provide more than $35,000 worth of essential items for our neighbors in need. We believe meaningful change happens when people come together with a shared commitment to helping others. By working alongside Catholic Charities and inviting our peers to join us, we were proud to support our neighbors and take part in a shared effort of compassion and service.
Our firm is guided by core values that define how we serve: Passionate Advocacy, Honest and Ethical, Serving Others, Strategic Excellence is a Habit, and Courage of Conviction. Each of these values is essential to our work, but service to others has been especially important in our partnership with Catholic Charities. In our daily practice, we advocate for clients whose lives have been turned upside down by catastrophic injury. We fight for what is right and for the justice each person deserves. Supporting Catholic Charities reflects this same mission. It allows us to extend our advocacy beyond the courtroom and into the lives of our neighbors facing poverty. We step in to support people during their most vulnerable moments, just as we do for our clients.
Our work with Catholic Charities of Acadiana is not just a partnership. It is a reflection of who we are and what we believe. We are grateful for the opportunity to serve, to give back, and to help strengthen the community we proudly call home.
